Slap Battles Mastery Guide: How Masteries Work
Mastery is not the same as unlocking
This trips up nearly everyone asking about masteries, so it is worth stating plainly: a mastery is a second progression layer on a glove you already own. Getting the glove is step one. The mastery is a separate track you grind afterwards, and it is what separates a player who owns a glove from one who has actually put hours into it.
51 of the game’s 370 gloves currently carry a mastery. Community glove listings mark them in orange for exactly this reason.
The mastery button gloves
Five gloves are grouped as the current mastery-button set, and they are — not coincidentally — the five gloves added in 2026:
| Glove | How you unlock the glove itself | Badge holders |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Invisible on Slapple Island | 335,109 |
| Grillmaster | Order Up! badge | 115,394 |
| Pool Noodle | Private server + Beach Ball | 190,410 |
| Static | Clear the Pim boss | 38,697 |
| Sand | Summer Island surfing | 61,179 |
The holder numbers on the right are your realistic ordering. If you want to start a mastery track today, Camera and Pool Noodle are by far the most reachable entry points; Static requires beating the hardest fight in the game before the mastery grind even begins.
Which mastery is worth doing first
There is no single “best mastery” answer that survives a patch, and any page that gives you a confident S-tier list is guessing. What does not change is the cost structure:
- Cheapest to start: Camera. Highest completion count of the 2026 gloves, no combat gate.
- Cheapest with a friend: Pool Noodle. The unlock is a two-player trick, not a challenge.
- Most prestige: Static. Fewer than 39,000 accounts hold the badge that gates it — that is under one in ninety thousand of the game’s lifetime visits.
Older masteries
The mastery system predates the 2026 gloves — badges like Gum, Gummy, Gone (229,832 holders, added May 2026) and Total Rhythm (397,199, added 2023) sit on gloves with their own long-running tracks. With 51 masteries live and roughly one content drop every two weeks, the set grows steadily; we re-check the count on each update rather than assuming it holds.
Where these numbers come from
The mastery count and mastery-button grouping are cross-checked against community documentation updated 28 August 2026. All badge holder figures and dates come from the public Roblox badge API for universe 2380077519, pulled 31 August 2026. Full list on the badge rarity index.
